Explorer II Reference 216570
"Maxi Case"
Size increase from 40mm to 42mm, paralleling the Explorer I's move to 39mm. Cal. 3187 is Explorer II-specific with a fixed 24-hour hand mechanism. Chromalight replaces SuperLuminova — the blue glow is a different aesthetic choice that divides opinion. The larger case gives more visual presence. Both black and white dials were offered throughout. Like the 214270, the 216570 is now viewed with the benefit of hindsight: more wearable than feared at launch, and the white dial version in particular photographs beautifully.
Notable: Last Explorer II before the return to Cal. 3285 and new movement generation.
